Back when I started Little Crown Interiors, one of my very first clients was living in a traditional home in Beverly Hills but loved modern design. I worked with her to come up with a compromise for her son’s room. Then a few years later, she moved into a very modern home and called me asking for a very colorful and modern bedroom for her son, now age six. Some of his favorite things are video games and astronauts, so I created a design that was bright and bold with modern touches and lots of fun. (more…)

Every time I stop in Target, I browse through the collection again. For one, you’re creating a design you love, why not keep it for more than a couple years? Plus, let’s be honest, it’s a whole lot easier on the budget. My nine-year-old daughter Stella just spent her second summer at overnight camp, and she left with one request: “Please redo my room!” Just like the story of the shoemaker’s child, since I’m in the children’s design business, my kids’ rooms are not always the projects I feel like tackling in my downtime. No, I’m kidding. I definitely don’t want to be a teenager again, but I do wish I had RH TEEN available to me when I was decorating my room as a teen! It’s fun to see companies branching out into these niche markets. While the collection is trying to catch the eye of teens and tweens, many of these pieces would work as great accents in any space.
