Okay, let’s be honest… If you’re a mom, there is nothing lazy about summer. It’s filled with activities, snacks and kids. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that part of me is excited about getting back to our regularly scheduled program with all its familiar routines. But as we all know, with back to school comes a large to-do list of its own. We’re giving you a look at some of our favorite back-to-school must-haves to help, and we’re giving away over $600 worth of essentials in our back-to-school prize package. (more…)
With back-to-school time upon us, the grind of getting our children ready and out the door returns. From eating their breakfast to putting on their shoes—sometimes it seems like everything is a struggle. Kudo Banz is here to help. It is an amazingly interactive positive reinforcement system for children. Instead of a traditional sticker chart on the wall, Kudo Banz allows kids to earn charms and wear them on their wrists. The fun accessory pairs with an app to allow for even more encouragement. (more…)
Our fabulous contributor Emily, of Entertaining with Emily, isn’t the only mom out there to loathe that mountain of artwork and papers that comes home with the kids every week. Of course, as parents we want to proudly display all their efforts and successes, but isn’t there a way to do it so it doesn’t look like a tornado hit the fridge? Why yes, there is! (more…)

It’s back to school time! No matter the age of your child, as summertime dwindles away, the fall beckons a more scheduled life. We get back into old routines, create new ones and try desperately to get the kiddos to follow along! Let’s get prepared for those little lull times of boredom by creating a dedicated station for solo play, crafts and snacks. Because seriously, all they care about is the snacks. (more…)
I hate to break it to you, but back-to-school season is here. Oh, cringe! How could it be? Didn’t summer just begin? Don’t stress just yet—lazy mornings, afternoon swims and neighborhood BBQs don’t have to end for a couple more weeks for most of us, BUT it is time to start gearing up (literally) for school to be back in session. As one half of one of the most famous sets of twins to grace a sitcom in the 90s (where are our fellow Sister, Sister lovers?), Tamera Mowry knows a thing or two about siblings. And now that she has little ones of her own, she’s teaching them how to share and share alike, starting with the Jack + Jill style layout of their bedrooms.
This mama of two reached out to Oilo Studio for help with this unique design project, and we’re so excited to show you four-year-old Aden’s classic big boy room. It features lots of grow-with-me details and fun design elements that this lucky preschooler is sure to love. Oh, and don’t forget to check out little sister Ariah’s beautiful space over on Project Nursery!
Back when I started Little Crown Interiors, one of my very first clients was living in a traditional home in Beverly Hills but loved modern design. I worked with her to come up with a compromise for her son’s room. Then a few years later, she moved into a very modern home and called me asking for a very colorful and modern bedroom for her son, now age six. Some of his favorite things are video games and astronauts, so I created a design that was bright and bold with modern touches and lots of fun. (more…)
Fall is here and we couldn’t be more excited. I love the season of chunky knit sweaters and high boots (side note, coveting the suede over the knee boots that are everywhere, you?) But what I really love about this time of year is it always feels like the perfect time to get back to a consistent family schedule of school and activities. Plus, Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday of the year. I love everything about it—the food, the decor, the traditions and the time to be home and grateful for the simple things. (more…)
Summer birthdays are my favorite. The temps are warm, days are free and everyone is in the mood for an outdoor party. Earlier this summer, Sloane and I received a tea and princess birthday invitation from our friend Julie to attend her daughter Lauren’s 5th birthday party. We RSVP’d with a big YES and prepared to get our tea party princess on! (more…)
